When asked what is his favorite part of the game is? Mike Singletary had a short but impactful answer: “The opportunity to play.” That quote quite effectively summarizes my desires, when I approach sports. I realize that my high school football career is short, only having the privilege to put on the pads approximately 36 times over my 4 years in high school. I want to make the most of the opportunities I get to step onto the field every Friday night for 9 weeks a year and take nothing for granted. Being a team leader the past two year as captain, it is my duty to lead by example and to help develop the dedication in others, so we can achieve our goals together as a family.
I have brought this same passion to swimming and baseball as a 3-sport athlete. I have truly enjoyed the ability to compete in different sports these past two years. Having the opportunity to compete on the varsity level in swimming, as a freshman was a terrific experience for me. Being a catcher in baseball continues to develop my leadership skills and continues my competitive nature in the spring season. I truly believe I am most successful when I am focused on sports and academics at the same time.
I chose to attend De La Salle Collegiate for the rigorous academic challenges they provide me during my High School career. I knew they would provide me with a solid foundation to become the best Student Athlete and person I can be. From academics, to sports, everything about De La Salle is striving to be the best and that’s what I like about it. I appreciate having the ability to compete in a program where I would be challenged to earn playing time and compete with top high school athletes. So far, I have enjoyed every opportunity that I have been given and I look forward towards my final 2 years in High school.
When considering a College/University, I am hoping to find one that will have a strong health sciences curriculum that will prepare me for my long-term goal of getting accepted into dental school. I would like to attend a program that will help me continue to grow both as an athlete and a person. I believe in giving 100% effort all the time, whether it’s in the classroom or on the football field. I am focused on finding a school with that same passion for developing its student athletes toward success. I would be honored to have the opportunity to continue my athletic career in college and see it as a way to keep myself focused on my academic goals as well.
