With my dad deployed this year, I set a goal of having the best senior football season. I challenged myself to work hard on and off the field, attend camps, attend all my summer workouts and be the leader my head coach wanted me to be. My junior year was greater but I wanted my senior year to be even better. During our first practice, I tore my right ACL. I was upset to hear my senior season was over before it started but everything happens for a reason. It's Gods plan, and I will trust the process. Surgery was August 15, 2023. I am having a great recovery process with physical therapy and home exercises. This is a minor set back for a major come back.
While competing for the power lifting state championship my sophomore year, I got three red lights on my last lift which caused me to not qualify for third place. I told my head coach then I will be back next year and win. I set my goals, worked hard, improved my form and lifts, and came back to win the state championship in the 181 weight class my junior year. My goal is to play football at the next level and become the teammate, athlete, and student that will be a good representation for the team, school, and community. I want to be a mentor to the young athletes and to show them how you keep your eyes on the prize, stay focused, and trust God. I know how to over come obstacles, adversity, and set backs. I always challenge myself to be better today than yesterday. Riding bulls in rodeos was a previous enjoyment of mine so size is not a factor to me. I love a challenge and I enjoy competing.
While I am recovering from ACL reconstruction, I will continue to build my strength and prepare for the road ahead.
