My name is Nelson Smith I am a junior at Darby High school. I play football, basketball, and rugby. I first started playing football in 6th grade and I have played ever since. Going from my 8th-grade year to my freshman year I have learned to not let myself get down if I mess up and to keep everyone going. Through playing sports I have learned to be a leader and I have made varsity in all three sports since I was a freshman. I have been a captain of the football team for a year and a captain of our basketball team for 2 years.
When it comes to academics it is an expectation in my family to have above a 3.0 GPA I have tried through my high school years to keep it above a 3.5. It is very important to me to have good grades and to stay eligible for sports. It is also important for me to get a good education so that I can get a good job to support a family.
A pretty good skill I possess is that I am a leader. Ever since I first started playing any sports I have always wanted to be the best and lead and push everyone else to do better and be the best they can. I am an Eagle Scout and to be able to receive that award you have to be a leader.
