My name is Ethan Klingenberg, a 2021 graduate from Bertrand High School in Bertrand, NE. I am a running back and sprinter for Bertrand High School. I participate in football and track. On the football field, I have been the leading scorer for touchdowns for Bertrand as their running back. In 2018, I received a certificate for being the record holder for most points scored in a game (82 points verses), and also received a certificate for kick off return yardage in a season (367 yards for the 2018 season). I have played Varsity for four years. One of my highlights was when we played against the Amherst Broncos. Despite a 24-12 deficit at half-time, we were able to make the second half rally to defeat the Broncos. At first we could not stop the Amherst running game which resulted in trailing 24-12. We then switched to a defense that we had not used in two years to try and slow down the Bronco attack. We were able to score in the first half with a 64 yard touchdown pass and a three yard run by me to score late in the second quarter. By second half, the score was 30-12 with 11 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. It wasn't looking good for us until I ran for 55 yards on an option play. This score led to 32 straight points for us. I then scored three more times in the second half, and ran in two touchdowns, one for fifteen yards and another for five yards. A pass to me for 55 yards set up another touchdown for me. In 2019, I worked hard in the gym and on the field, gaining 667 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns for the 2019 football season. Also in 2019, I had the honor to experience the 2019 Nebraska State and Track and Field Championship in Omaha Burke. I qualified in the 100m dash and the 4X1 meter relay. At districts and State, myself and teammates broke the 4X1 school record back to back in May 2019. When we broke the school record a second time at state in Omaha, we took 2nd place in the 4X1 relay in Class D. This is another highlight moment for me. I plan to study diversified agriculture or farm management in college. I have a 2.37 GPA that needs some work, but I am also diagnosed with ADD and have an IEP in school. I was born premature (2 months) but nothing has stopped me from achieving my goals, especially with the love and support of my mom. She is my rock, my everything. She is there for me regardless and is always willing to help me and support my dreams regardless. I am willing to work hard and am a very determined athlete. I take direction and criticism well. Like everyone else, 2020 was a rough year due to the pandemic. I missed out on track along with everyone else, however, 2021, I was able to come back stronger. During 2020 footfall, I hold the record for career kick off returns (916) and was second team-running back. During my 2021 track season I had a undefeated season in the 100m and 200m dash where I broke the school record three times in the 200m dash. Our boys track team were also district champs, and only lost two track meets, every other track meet, the Bertrand Track boys won, my individual track points consisted of 213. My only loss was at the 2021 Omaha Burke State Championship where I placed 2nd in the 100m (11.1) and 200m dash (22.4) and anchored the 4X1 relay team to 3rd place finish, and again, breaking the school record (44.7). You can also find additional information about me on my HUDL. I want to thank you for this opportunity.
