My collegiate goal and aspiration is to play Division I football. My dream has always been to play professional football. As I have gotten older I have refocused my goals to be step by step. My current goal for football is to start all four years on my high school varsity football team. I want to earn that letter as a freshman, I also want the letter to be earned not given.
When I talk about earned not given, I mean that I want to benefit my team and coaches at a varsity level while contributing to the team. I am not an athlete who believes in God given talent. I believe in hard work and repetition. It may be a little funny or sad, but one of the best things I have watched is the movie Rudy. I love the fight and never quit attitude that Rudy Ruettiger gave at every practice. The way he gained recognition from his teammates and proved he belonged. I understand that this is a movie, but it did follow one Daniel Ruettiger story and his goal to play Irish football. I hope to think that I have that type of drive and can provide that commitment and energy everyday. I understand that what I have said above has been used before, I'm sure. I do say it with truth though.
Another truth about me is that I do lack some self confidence. As I get older it has gotten better, but this is something that I know I must work on and overcome. When I'm talking about my self confidence as it pertains to football, its about my own trust in my abilities and believing in what my parents and coaches tell me. Good and bad, my parents and coaches give me praise and fault. Both with praise and fault I need to understand and listen and use them as building blocks moving forward. I want to grow and be the best teammate I can be. I hope that helps describe who I am. All I can say is that I have the work ethic day in and day out to be one hundred percent. I do not believe in taking plays off, this is true in games, practice and school work. I know you hear a lot of talk and I hope that one day I can show you the work to match the talk. I'm here to be the best football player and teammate I can be. Ether in winning championships or have the first 500 season in school history. I want to contribute and put in work from day one. Thank you for allowing to explain a little of who I am and who I want to be.
Sincerely: Colin Robert Banning
