My name is Matt Ciarlo, I am currently going into my senior year at Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls, NJ. I was starting middle linebacker junior year and was a starting outside linebacker as a sophomore on the varsity team. In an article, Coach Parlavecchio described me as, “One of the best young linebackers in the state.” In another article written this year, Coach Joe Wassel is quoted, “Matt is extremely tough, strong and athletic. Combine those traits with hard work and an extreme desire to win.” Furthermore, the North Jersey Record labeled me as a player to watch. I was also awarded first team all league and second team all county this year. I held the record for the most tackles on my team 2 years in a row, even as a sophomore. I know I'm capable to do very special things on the next level. Please check out my hudl account to see a sample of what I can do.
I was a starting AAU basketball player on a team that scooped up tournament wins every weekend, but I gave it up to try wrestling for the first time sophomore year. I felt that wrestling would improve my football techniques. One thing about me is that I have a strong work ethic and am determined to do well with whatever challenge is put in front of me. I do this by not only working hard at every practice and on my own time, but also watching videos of games/matches and asking for tips from my teammates and coaches. I lost my first match, but that just made me work harder. I wound up placing first and second in two tournaments, ranking in districts, and making second team All Passaic County. My junior year I place first in Passaic County, All league and 37th in the state.
I am a true team player, supporting my teammates on and off the field. I was captain of my freshman football team and called the defensive plays junior year and will be captain this year.
I am always available for a phone call, a text or a zoom meet. Looking forward to hearing from you!
