Kevin Rogers '11 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kevin Rogers and I reside in Ocean Township, NJ. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for viewing my scouting report through the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA). It is my hope to be a positive addition to a distinguished academic program that offers choices in liberal arts, sciences, and engineering. At an early age I was fortunate to receive an excellent martial arts background under the direction of nationally acclaimed Master Art Beins , president of the United States Black Cat Kenpo Karate Federation. With strenuous training and self-discipline I was fortunate to be among those who made history by participating in the first annual Black Cat Kenpo Karate Tournament. The final highlight of my martial arts experience was being awarded an A towards the rank of 1st KYU Brown Belt. This organization is in its 10th year and continues to help students gain confidence and positive self images just as it helped me to build a strong foundation to meet any and all challenges. After relocating to Ocean Township, NJ I continued my martial arts instruction receiving top honors in the Spirit of Challenge Takemichi Kaikan Open Karate Tournament for Eastern Sun Academy in Oakhurst, NJ. These accomplishments also became the foundation for a successful athletic career. My participation in The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Staten Island Lightning Basketball League led to the Spring Showdown Championship for 2006. As teamwork became be a focal point, my athletic activities continued throughout intermediate school with competitions in track, basketball and wrestling. In 2007, my track and field contributions to the relay, long jump and triple jump competitions led our team to an A division championship with a record of 11- 0. My football experiences began with the Lakewood Pop Warner Piners and continued with the Jersey Shore Pop Warner Football League. In 2006 our Jersey Shore team was recognized as runner-ups in the William Eastmond NJ Pop Warner Super Classic. Honored to have had my father as a coach in both leagues, I began to excel and master the game of football in a way that has changed my life. During my time at Ocean Township High school, I competed in basketball, track and lacrosse; however, the highlight of my high school career lies in my ability to serve as a strong running back and make valuable contributions to the success of the Ocean Spartans Football Team. In 2008 we fulfilled our season by finishing with an 8-3 record and an appearance in the Central Jersey Group II Semi-final. Our hard work resulted in the Liberty Division Public School Championship as well. As a special teams player during my freshman and sophomore year, I was able to gain the necessary momentum to be a primary ball carrier during my junior football season. As a result of these accomplishments, I was recognized as a second team all-conference performer by the Shore Conference Liberty Division Coaches Association and invited to speak at their annual "Boys to Men Coaching Respect Conference" in 2009. With the help of Trainer Tom Kaleita and a rigorous weight lifting and exercise program, I achieved an average run of 4.4in the 40 yard dash. At the present time my height is 5ft. 8in. and my weight is 160 lbs. In weight lifting I usually bench 375x5 and squat 550x5. By staying physically fit, I was able to gain the type of strength and speed which led to a solid junior football season by rushing 82 times for 505 yards with 3 touchdowns and 6.2 yards/carry. Also responsible for over 1,500 total yds I exercise leadership abilities in most everything that I do while maintaining a grade point average of 90.276. It is my dream to continue on that path to academic success and play football at a college or university in the northeast region.
