I am a 17 year old student athlete in Albuquerque New Mexico. I started playing organized sports, primarily flag football at 8 years old. Playing continuously since that time, adding additional sports, including track and wrestling builds skills, but I am drawn to the teamwork, comraderies, and character building that define football. The balance requiring each individual to play their role, every play, in order for the team to be at its best, is motivating . I enjoy the discipline it requires to improve every day. I want to continue to pursue the strongest academics paired with the most competitive team athletics possible in my college career.
It is important to me to be disciplined. I try to develop my skills to their greatest potential in every activity. This comes through in both my athletics and academics, as well as the rest of my life. The Albuquerque Academy is one of the most competitive schools in the United States. My grade point average is 4.13, and in my junior year my courses included advanced and honors courses in all subjects: math, English, history , computer science, symbolic logic, and anatomy and physiology.
As a 3 year varsity starter, my sophomore year, I led the state for cornerbacks in all divisions , at all ages, for: tackles (66), solo tackles (43), tackles for a loss ( 7)and sacks (4) with an pick six interception. As a junior I made the move to Linebacker. The team made it two second round of playoffs. I earned first team all district and honorable mention all state honors with 52 solo tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 2 fumbles caused and 7 sacks with 10 hurries.
Our wrestling team won district both Freshman and Sophomore years, and I wrestled and qualified for the NM state wrestling meet as a freshman, wrestling up in weight, weighing in at 145 and competing at 160. In our last year together, my club flag football team winning the city championship
I want to continue push myself as far as I can both academically and athletically. I am coachable and enjoy being coached because it builds strong relationships and helps the team grow. It is important to me to help my team members, helping younger players develop. I did so being a volunteer coach for the school for 6th - 7th graders developing fundamentals in Flag Football. I have a strong spirit for my school, being a school ambassador. I see myself, in the future, working with people helping with plans to in the health fields with a current passion to pursue psychiatry.
