Personal Statement

My aspirations are to obtain a degree in business or physical therapy while being a competitive and successful athlete for your program and to thrive in the academic and athletic environment at the collegiate level.

I am currently a Junior at Albuquerque Academy. Throughout my athletic career, I have always been overly passionate about sports and have cultivated many qualities that show I am a great team leader to coaches. Over this past year, the game of golf clicked for me and became what I love. I am a good candidate for your team because I am dedicated and a hard worker who enjoys success, has a good work ethic, and am a great team leader. It would be best to succeed and see others around me do their best and am looking for golf programs that would allow me this opportunity. I would push my teammates to attain their goals by setting a great example and at the same time will be dedicated and learn from other’s success.  Over the past 3 years, I have qualified for state as an individual, and as an 8th grader and 9th  I was only one of few. I was voted team captain since 8th grade by my coaches and peers.  I was ranked top 12 in 2016-17, top 14 in 2017-18, and top 10 in 2018-19 in the state of New Mexico 4A golf. Golf is enjoyable to me because it has given me so many wonderful experiences. Golfing challenges me physically, mentally, and socially, and I look forward to what it will teach me in the future. This summer I was playing with some boys who graduated from my school or were seniors. They were all baseball players and had very different swings from the normal. They were betting money that I would beat one of them. When I started I was very nervous, but in my head, I remained calm and said that I could do it to myself. On the third hole, we were still tied. They yelled as I was coming down from the top of my swing. I watched the ball land on the green and looked up because they said it needed to go. I was confident in my swing and a few seconds later saw the ball drop. This was my first hole in one! Everyone was impressed, and all of the people that were watching rewarded me with my success. At this point in time, I saw myself as mentally tough and this is what sparked my passion for the game of golf.
