Sports have always been a big part of my life. I began playing soccer and joined little league when I was 3 and the year after I began gymnastics and by the time I was 5, I was asked to join the boys gymnastics team. I played basketball from the time I was in elementary school and even today I am drawn to athletics and am always looking to try new things, but, in all of this mix, there has always been football. I played the game when flag football was all that was offered for my age. I picked up that football and haven't put it down since. Football and the supportive coaches I am lucky enough to have, helped shape me into the person I am. They taught me resilience and accountability, how to be a hungry enough to want to win but humble when we do and of course the all important lesson, how to be gracious when we lose. I believe I am an asset to a team because I am a team player. The young men I am privileged to play alongside are not just teammates, they are family. I know that no matter what they always have my back and I have theirs. We rise together or fall together, but we know we gave it our all. I give my all every game, I leave it all on the field and all the blood, sweat, tears, and smiles are worth it every time. I am not very extroverted, and football gives me a way to express myself and excel in something I love. It binds me to something greater than myself, it ties me to my teammates and to my community. Football holds me to a higher standard and because of that, I push myself to achieve more both on the field and in life. I recognize the importance of hard work whether it's on the field, in the classroom, or at home. I understand that no one is perfect but my journey to strive for excellence is ongoing. I am constantly growing as an individual and as a player and am eager to learn as I believe there is value and knowledge to be absorbed from every coach and every teacher and as long as I approach every situation with an open mind and stay focused on my goals I know it will lead me down the right path. I try to attack every situation with a level head and clarity and it is through perseverance, honesty, and a good work ethic that I will achieve all I set my mind to both academically and athletically.
