Hello,
My name is Zack Horn and I have played football since I was in 3rd grade. I have played many different positions, such as center, guard, fullback, long snapper, corner back, linebacker and my favorite is defensive end. I am one of the hardest working members of my team, especially in the weight room. At the end of my freshman year, I had some ankle issues, but played through them. After the football season was over, I got my ankle scoped. It's a long story, but the results came back as a sarcoma. A bone cancer tumor was causing my discomfort and all that time I thought it was a mild sprain. My treatment involved a lot of chemotherapy, surgery and some radiation treatment. After my second round of chemo I was given an option to amputate my left foot below the knee. I had to take this option for a better quality of life and to rid my body of the cancer. Keeping the foot meant walking with a limp and never playing sports again, so the decision was hard, but there was only one way to go for me. I was out all of my sophomore year for treatment and physical therapy. My goal in life now is to have a career in the medical field. With this goal in mind, my grades are going very well. I would like to earn a degree that would allow me to help others like myself, who are cancer survivors and amputees. The sport of football and the fight to play again is what drove me through all this. With a lot of help from my family, the community and my football brothers, I have fully participated in my junior year of football. I would love to play football and earn a degree in the medical field at a college close to home. I will be a great fit on any football team. Please contact me or my father if you are interested in me being part of your team.
