Larry Oldenburg '12 Recruiting Profile

The three adjectives most often used to describe me are "high character", "coachable", and "hard working".
High character is represented by my respect for coaches and teammates, my annual mission trip, coaching kids at my school's camp and the 150 hours of community service I will complete for my senior year. My proudest character moment was when I was voted team captain for my senior year football season.
Coachable describes my ability to learn and focus on new techniques, my desire to watch game film, being asked to call plays for our defense for 2 years and incorporating what I've learned from camps and combines into team drills and activities.
Hardworking is an overused term but I actually live it. I train 6 days a week lifting, running and working with my nationally known trainer from Speed Strength Systems. I practice hard and with intensity, I carry that same intensity over to my games, I stay after class with teachers to improve my GPA, and watch extra game film during the week to get a "one up" on my opponents.
I'm a 5'10 225 lb. insidelinebacker/fullback. I play both ways and started varsity as a sophomore and junior. I was voted team captain for my senior year. I led the team in tackles for loss and fumble recoveries as a sophomore, was second on the team in tackles both years and led the team in forced fumbles and fumble recoveries as a junior. I've received the Linebacker of the Year award for 2 straight years.
I would like to play at the highest college division that my ability allows but would rather contribute early in my career and have the maximum impact on a team and program as early as possible. I am open to all geographic regions but would prefer the east and midwest so it is easier for my family to come and watch me play. I plan to major in criminal justice or psychology.
I am highly motivated to be a great player, student, and teammate and will always give 100% in everything I do. I am confident I can excel on the field and classroom. My passion for football is unmatched and I believe my key qualities and athletic talent will translate well at the next level. I will represent myself, my family and my school in the highest light and understand my responsibilities as a student-athlete. I have dreamed of playing college football since I started playing at age 8 and am driven to accomplish this goal. All I need is an opportunity.
