Since a very young age, I have always wanted to play football. My passion and goal is to play football at the collegiate level. I have watched my parents work hard to provide for me and my other siblings. Through seeing their sacrifices, I have come to the realization that achievements in life are not handed to us but earned. It takes hard work, dedication, and determination to achieve your goals as well as become successful. My cousin plays in the NFL and I have seen his path of success. I desire that as well. I like to have fun and joke around, but I also know when to be serious and listen. I have the ability to see the playing field in a way that no one can teach.
When I was seven years old, I started to become interested in the game of football, mostly through watching it on TV. When I turned eight years old, I started to play the sport. Over the years, playing football for the recreational team, the middle school, and now high school, I had and have learned about several different positions and have been able to be coached to be a better player, team mate and leader. I am not one to quit. In the midst of challenges and adversity, I willing to push through and fight. I have had to overcome a lot of obstacles growing up. For example, in the recreational league, I had to lose weight to make weight and play football. In middle school, the 7th and 8th grade teams were combined into one team, and I had to work hard and earn my spot on the field. In my 8th grade year, I transferred schools so I was the new kid to the area. I had to meet new classmates, teachers, and coaches and I had to prove I was willing to listen and work hard. Lastly, I had to overcome the obstacle of injuries. Throughout, the course of recovery, I knew it took patience and perseverance to get back on the field and be a better player than before.
I would like to graduate high school with a 3.4 GPA or higher. I have certainly come a long way to get to where I am now. I am more dedicated and focused on my academics and understand the importance of school and how it will ultimately affect my advancement in life as well as achieving my goals I have set for myself. I now strive for A’s instead of settling for just passing. I plan to attend a college that will build a foundation for my career after football and my goal is to finish college with a 3.0 GPA or higher in the Criminal Justice field.
I understand that I have a big dream, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve it.
