I am Moe Seaton, currently a middle linebacker, tight end and long snapper playing for Edisto Highschool’s Varsity Cougars from Cordova, SC. My name though, is actually Matthew, but to everyone I am “Moe”, a silly, immutable second grade nickname which steadfastly came to become my confirmed identity. I am currently a senior at Edisto High School in Cordova, SC, graduating this spring 2023. I began playing Varsity football for The Cougars my freshman year of high school. In my junior year, I was named 1st Team All-Region Player and 1st Team All-Area Player for the 2021/22 football season. To date of the current season, I have held South Carolina’s division AA (senior) number 1 and number 3 stat rankings for total tackles, as well as the state number 4 stat rank for all combined classes. I am currently ranked number 2 for tackles of South Carolina’s AA Region 6. On September 1, 2022 I was named Orangeburg Touchdown Club’s defensive player of the week.
I am a member of the National Honor Society as well as the National Society of High School Scholars and Beta Club member. I am also a current electioneering candidate for Edisto Highschool’s 2022/23 senior class president. I presently have a 3.7 grade point average and rank 6th out of an estimated 130 graduating seniors, but it is with firm determination that I plan to finish in the top 3. My academic goal as a high school student is to graduate at a minimum within the top 5 of my class (preferably top 3 but minimum top 5). I am interested in studying biology/biomedical sciences in college. My higher academic goals include attaining my bachelor's degree in biomedical science (with honors) followed by completing medical school (with honors).
As a student athlete I am well aware that in order to stand out it takes more than just outstanding physical and athletic performance, but it takes outstanding mental and academic performance as well. I cannot say with complete honesty that I absolutely love academics and I that I enjoy studying. Be that as it may, I enjoy the benefits of being a good student; the opportunities, the doors it opens, the satisfaction of achieving and FOOTBALL. I am able to not only do what I love to do but be good at it because I work hard in the classroom. It is that understanding and compromise I uphold with myself that drives me to remain consistent on and off of the field. I know that discipline, consistency and aggressive determination across all personal pursuits are the paramount of success. While I optimistically look forward to the accomplishments and success, I have full knowledge of the fact that with success often come failures. I am prepared to accept the value, even the necessity of failing, as it is through failure in which we establish a greater awareness of ourselves so to strengthen our weaknesses, and enhancing our strengths I don’t know what the future holds for me but I know without a doubt that I want to succeed in life, not only in my career but life in general, all aspects of it. I want to learn new things regularly, in turn applying my knowledge towards achieving my goals. It is with unabridged certainty that I know I want to go to college, I want to earn my degree, I want to work hard and I want to do what I love and also with completely unabridged certainty I love to play football, I want to play football. I am driven, determined, I put everything into doing my very best on (and off of) that field, both, as an individual as well as a teammate. At every practice, at every game, I strive to be a model of authenticity, sportsmanship and encouragement for my team; to build them up in times when things seem low, commend and praise them in times of triumph, so to establish the comradery necessary, to strengthen the confidence and trust between separate individuals into a collectively fortified assembly of one [team].
