I began kicking in 7th grade. That was the first year I joined the football team, and I planned on playing receiver and defensive back. Realizing the team needed a kicker, I began kicking about two weeks before the season began, and then I won the starting job. Since I had played soccer for six years, at that point, I quickly progressed. In 8th grade, I was given my first opportunity to kick a field goal during a game and was ecstatic when the ball soared through the uprights. At that moment, I knew that I wanted to focus on kicking, as I went to play football in high school.
As I continue to kick in high school, I realize that I have the desire to play football beyond my senior year. I enjoy kicking throughout the regular season and even going out to the field on Saturdays to kick field goals and kickoffs to my brother during the offseason. I am eager to continue kicking in college. I understand that a fantastic education is priceless. I am more than willing to commit myself to an academically challenging university and participate on the football team. Participating in four sports my freshman year and three varsity sports my sophomore year, as well as extracurricular activities such as jazz band and the math team, has taught me to manage my time wisely so I am able to excel at my studies and to excel at sports. I am eager to continue to strive to get to the next level.
