Gunner Johnson '13 Recruiting Profile

I am a achiever in the class room and on the field.  I am a good leader and always motivate my team mates to do better. I would love to play football in college because I am a very competitive person and love the game. I am willing to explore all opportunities.  

As a sophomore, I started as an OLB for the 4A Div II Region 1 District 5 repeating State Champions Aledo Bearcats; 16 - 0 during the 2010 season. I led my team in total average tackles for the year with 8.5 tackles per game and had a total of 93 tackles during the season.  I had 10 tackles and 1 interception in the 4A Div 2 State Championship game; Aledo 69 - La Marque 34.  Also, I was selected as 2nd Team All - District and Parker County, Texas New Comer of the Year in 2010.

In 2011, I continued to work hard in the class room and had an overall 3.8 grade point average with a score of 1,780 on the PSAT.  I was also named 1st Team Academic All-District.  During the football season, I had 143 tackles and helped lead our team to another state championship, Aledo 49 - Manvel 28.  I also participated in the U.S. Army National Combine in January of 2012 for the class of 2013 high school graduates.  I was selected as 1st Team All District, 1st Team All Parker County and Padilla Poll Coaches 2011 All-State Conference 4A 2nd Team Linebacker.

In 2012, I captained a team that went 10-2 as Bi-District Champions and had 84 tackles on the season.  I currently have a core gpa of 3.5, scored 1400 on the SAT and was named 1st Team Academic All-District.  I was selected as our team's Most Valuable Defensive Player, 4A District 7 Defensive Player of the Year, All-Parker County Defensive Player of the Year and was a 1st Down Club of DFW - Defensive Player of the Year Finalist.

I am interested in pursuing an engineering degree while participating in college football upon my graduation from high school.  I am part of an extremely successful high school football program and understand what it means to study, practice and prepare at a championship level.  I'm a leader and will help my teammates understand the determination, desire and hard work it takes to win.
