My name is Eziquiel Makoa Phumirat Gonzales. Everyone calls me Zeek for short. My father is a huge influence on my life, for he had not been given the chance to go to college. He had instead, chose to enlist. I use his example to strive for a better future for myself. I have become interested in football through the actual love of the game. From the big plays to the comebacks, I have always been astounded by how the game can teach so much in life. I have learned that I can overcome an obstacle if I put in the effort. The experience I had learned through football has given me the ability to put in the effort and determination to compete at the collegiate level.
My goal for high school is to graduate in the top 10 percent of my class. This allows me access to about 100 colleges in Texas. My academic goal overall is to be the first generation to graduate college in my family, and to obtain a degree that will guarantee me the lifestyle I desire. Yes, there are plenty of obstacles along the way. I had to overcome a broken collarbone my freshman year of high school. This has hindered my ability until it was fully healed, and I was absolutely not happy doing nothing. The experience of doing nothing while someone is doing something has given me the desire to play and compete at a collegiate level.
