I am a 5’9 Middle Linebacker/Running Back at Godley High School in Godley, Texas. I have a 4.0 GPA, and I was second in my 8th grade class. Playing football in college became my goal as a 6th grader, and I began devoting all of my efforts toward attaining this goal by maintaining my grades, lifting weights outside of the school day, conditioning, and attending camps. My goal is to play as a freshman anywhere I go. I want to be in a school that offers top-notch academics as well as an athletic program that not only focuses on athletic ability and talent of the student, but also demands a strong work ethic and character in every aspect of life.
My 8th grade middle school year was full of challenges due to coaching staff changes. Due to these changes, many positions were altered which caused a loss of team chemistry. Despite this challenge, my relentless pursuit of excellence did not waiver. Even when times were difficult, I pushed myself for my team, my school, and my coaches.
I recently read Tim Grover’s book, Relentless, and discovered a simple truth that sums up who I am in a nutshell. Tim Grover states that everyone can be categorized in one of three ways. A cooler, a closer, and a cleaner. A cooler gets everyone cranked up and emotional before the game. A closer gets himself cranked up and emotional before the game. A cleaner never gets cranked up or emotional; he stays cool and calm and saves it all for the game. A cooler is good, a closer is great, but a cleaner is unstoppable. I am a cleaner, and I strive to be unstoppable in every sport I play, in every class, at home, and in life. I will strive to be unstoppable in high school, college and beyond. More importantly, I will behave respectfully on and off the field, knowing that my actions reflect my family, my team, my coaches, and the school I am attending.
