As a multiple sport athlete, I face new challenges every day. Whether I’m on the football field, track, or baseball diamond I continue to learn and grow. My family is very important to me, and their support helps me to push through any adversity I face on or off the field. The valuable lessons I continue to learn from my coaches and teammates push me to be a better athlete and person. I always show respect, work hard, and am eager to learn.
Playing sports in high school has taught me a lot. Many of the challenges I have faced along the way have taught me to never give up, always work hard, and to work together as a team. I have developed a hunger for the game that grows each day. Although I was not eligible to play varsity football my freshmen year, I attended all practices and workouts to ensure I was focused on my development as a player. That season I was able to learn a lot from the older players that helped me understand the game and how to play to the best of my abilities.
When my sophomore season (2022) came along, I was excited to play. As a team we were learning to depend on one another and grow as a unit with a common goal. One of my biggest accomplishments that year was running a kickoff back for a touchdown in our Bi-District playoff game, which we won. We finished that season with a tough loss in the Area round of the playoffs. I was recognized my sophomore season as Honorable Mention Defense-Corner Back. Honestly, I was not satisfied and wanted to get back in the pads and start getting ready for the next season with one goal in mind: a district championship. Beginning my Junior season, I was ready to go out on the field and show people what I could do and more importantly what I had learned. My junior season (2023) we finished as undefeated district champions and reached the regional semifinals in the playoffs. During this season I put my faith in God for strength and guidance and found even more confidence in my abilities as an athlete. I was recognized as First Team Defense-Safety, First Team Offense-Running Back & Returner, and Academic All District. In addition to that I was voted second team All-State Defense (Defensive Back) on the Padilla Coaches Poll.
As my Senior year approaches, I’m focused on understanding what my future goals are and realizing my dream of playing at the college level. I’m excited to get back out on the field with my teammates this fall and compete for another District Championship, but most importantly get better every time I step foot on the field. Academically, I want to pursue a business or trade degree that can provide for my future and that of my family. I am someone that will come every day ready to compete and willing to learn what it takes to be successful.
