Personal Statement

Updated 3/11/12
Summary - Am ranked 4 star, D1A RS eligible for deep snap by Kornblue and his UHou LS coach. I would like to snap in college, but am versatile and play O and D line also if useful.  Continue weekday training with weight coach, 3x/wk LS coaching with top NCAA D1 snapper from UH.  ---- end summary

Wrestling contributes to my strength and leverage. Made all-state, all-conf, was capt, received sportrsmanship award, special captain recognition, and represented Texas at Nat Prep in Lehigh Feb 2012.

I have played football since 7th grade and varsity since my junior year, when I was a starter. In that time I have played wherever the coaches needed me, including every position on the offensive line, having memorized the entire blocking scheme, as well as defensive tackle and defensive end.
However, because I am undersized, I have begun working at different positions. I have taken up long snapping over the summer to snap in the fall, and have been working in on the summer 7 on 7 league, playing offense and defense when I am not snapping.

I want to continue playing football in college, and am willing to contribute to the team in any way I can. I would work just as hard on a position on special teams, on the line or snapping or anywhere the coaches want me; I will do my hardest to help the team.

I have also wrestled since Middle School, where I finished 3rd in conference in 7th grade, 1st in conference and 2nd in state my 8th grade year (at 186 lbs). In high school, I've wrestled at the 189 and 215 weight classes; in 10th grade I finished all-state. However, because of team injuries and needs, my junior year I was asked to wrestle up a weight class at State and at the Conference tournament (where I finished 4th). I was elected a captain for my senior year by my teammates for my dedication to anything I do and my ability to lead, both on the mat and in practices.

With my grades the way they are, I hope to get into a top tier college or university. In my family, academics has always come first, and I have excelled in this area: 2400 SAT score, 5's on all of my AP's, and a GPA of 95.  Thus I plan on going to a good college even if I cannot play sports. I am also fortunate that financial aid is not a concern for me and my parents won't qualify for any.

That being said, I enjoy playing sports and know I have something to offer any team I am on. I have always made it a point to be dedicated to anything I do, be it in the classroom or on the field. For example, this past year I has the best attendance in high school at the voluntary 6:45am morning workouts. Dedication is something I always expect from myself, even if it is not always expected of me. If I am not the best I strive to get better, and I will. I would love a chance to play.
