To whom it concerns:
It is with gratitude that I share my collegiate goals and aspirations: I am thankful for the education I am receiving, and wish to continue that by attending a rigorously academic school. Throughout my high school career, I have been academically challenged with a classical education with very rigorous curricula. I enjoy this challenge and constantly work hard both in academics, to receive good grades, and on the football field, to advance my team. I enjoy hard work, and am willing to put in great effort in order to succeed and do well for myself and for others. Additionally, in my high school career, I've learned to love to be part of a team. I love the "band of brothers" that I've been able to become a part of in my time in football, and hope to continue that in college.
I currently have a 4.0GPA, and have already taken and passed the AP World History exam. I plan to take the AP Chemistry, AP European History, AP Language and Rhetoric, and AP English exams, in this, my junior year.
Having been physically challenged as a child, I have had to learn how to overcome extreme obstacles through perseverance and determination. After working through these difficulties, I kept that learned perseverance and determination and applied it to school, sports, and music, among other things.
As far as athletics go, I've been participating in competitive sports since I began swimming at age six. Through swim, before I joined football, I developed an extremely strong cardiovascular system, helping me to work for long periods of time without becoming exhausted. This also gave me the mental strength to keep going when things were hard, technically difficult, or simply challenging, and to learn to swim each event separately. When I started football, these prior experiences allowed me to surpass others who joined with me. My freshman year, I was back up long snapper on the varsity team. My sophomore year, I was starting long snapper, backup nose guard, and played other defensive positions. This year, I started at long snapper, offensive line, nose guard, and back up center. In addition to this, starting freshman year onwards, I have been the starting goalie on our varsity soccer team, and last year, I made it to state for discus in track. I believe I am a well rounded athlete who takes on specialty positions well. Long snapper is not a very highly regarded position, such as quarterback or running back, but I continually work hard at it for the betterment of my team and my own personal love of sport and position, instead of personal glory. This has helped me be a very consistent snapper, always delivering the ball where the holder wants it at good speed.
I am well rounded in life, too, able to balance sports with my rigorous academics, and my interest in music. I have learned how to manage my time well, not just so that I am able to do these things, but so that I can succeed and do well in my fields of interest. Last year, I went on to state in choir, and was ranked the seventh-place first tenor-1 in the state of Texas in TPSMEA. Additionally, I went to state as a tenor-1 again this year and ranked fifth in the state. This willingness to work hard and ability to take on many challenges and be flexible and successful, makes me stand out as a great candidate.
Thank you for considering me.
