Personal Statement

Hello,  my name is Blake McKenna and I currently attend John Paul II College Preparatory High School in Plano, Texas. I am a senior and will be graduating with my peers in the 2024 class. While I understand that there is a lot of talent vying to climb the ladder to the next level, here are a few bullet points about me so that you have confidence in knowing who I am, what I am about and feel I am worthy of further discussion to join your program.

  • My stats are what they are, ranked against my peers- I am in the upper echelon across the board, but stats can be misleading and what I am most proud of and feel the true value in what my skillset offers is my coachability and desire to be the best teammate possible.
  • Effort and attitude will never be an issue, I take pride every time I step on to the field or into a classroom and my goal is to make the people around me better and the coaches that have gambled on me proud.
  • Football is my passion. Learning, studying and absorbing the craft- I love it all and it is less what I do and more who I am.
  • I am a leader. It feels awkward writing that, but I know it to be true and take great pride in honing my leadership skills. I want to be great of course, but I want my teammates and coaches to be that much better and collectively- I want to win, at all costs.

Just as important to my performance and dedication on the field is my efforts put forth off of it. I have a 3.1 GPA, I strive to get better each day and have learned from an early age that none of the football accolades matter if I don’t strive to be just as strong of man. Character matters. Pride matters. On and off the field is no different. As the quote reads ‘how we do anything is how we do everything’. I believe in that and look forward to making my family, coaches, teammates and myself proud at the next level.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
