In third grade I stepped onto a turf football field on a hot 100 degree day in July. This was my first ever football practice. During this practice I had felt pain I had never experienced prior, but I loved it. I loved the feeling of my heart pounding, after finishing through the line after gassers, or air raids. I loved the feeling of my legs burning while learning how to get in a correct four point stance, however; there was one feeling which topped all else. This feeling was my first hit with a football helmet while doing form tackling drills. It was from this day I knew I wanted to make it to the next level. I wanted to be an Outside Linebacker.
One of many beliefs is that football is not just a game, but a lifestyle. Football is a game which can transform boys into young men. Football takes effort, courage, and grit. These are attributes not everyone has, but can eventually obtain. Another one of my beliefs is that through hard work and obsession, anything is possible. For example, I remember my first experience in the weightroom, I couldn’t even squat the bar. I was embarrassed and ashamed of myself, but it now feels weightless.
One thing that I believe that separates me from other recruits and athletes is my work ethic and determination. I go 200% all the time whether it's during film study, conditioning, lifts or in the classroom. I am determined to beat the man on the other side of the line. I can be counted on to go hard any place, any time. Another thing which separates me from other recruits and athletes is my character. I can be counted on to show integrity, honesty and humility at all times. It is also one of my utmost responsibilities to maintain an A average across all of my classes within school. This is because my effort and results reflect my parents, coaches, teammates and all that I represent.
