Jake Payne '12 Recruiting Profile

       My name is Jake Payne and I play at Battlefield Highschool. I am 6'4" and weigh 210 lbs, I have a 3.2 GPA and scored a 1560 on my SAT's. I am the Captain of my football team, who last year won the Virginia Div.6 AAA State Championship, and this year won the regional championship. On the offensive side of the ball, i have played tight end throughout my football career and plan on playing there in college. But this year, due to our lack of offensive lineman, my team needed me to play guard so that we could have a solid interior blocker. Though lacking the weight of an offensive lineman, i worked my hardest, used my speed and athletics, and became an excellent blocker. At Offensive Guard i was selected 1st team all-district, 1st team all-region, 1st team all-area, 2nd team all-state, and honorable mention all-met. On the defensive side of the ball i rotated through every defensive lineman position (and even dropped back to outside linebacker in some circumstances).  My main position is defensive end, but for the benefit of the team, I started noseguard then defensive tackle for the first 6 games. I showed my versatility, athleticism, and football smarts by playing all over the field. Though only playing defensive end in 1 and a half regular season district games, i was still able to get selected 2nd team all district.
       I have showed my leadership and commitment to this team and would love nothing more than to bring this to a football team at the next level. I am open to all types of schools, because like on the football field, i am very versatile and will fit in wherever i am at. My main goal for college is to play for a team that i will make the greatest impact on, i consider my team my family and would like to lead another team in the future as i have with my highschool team.
