Hello,
My name is Jared Cordova. I was influenced to play football by my father. He told me at a young age to become mature, understand responsibilities, and become a hard worker in sports and in life. My father and I are very tightly knit which led to him becoming my coach while he taught me his wisdom. He was realistic with me through the 7 years I played for him, he and I both knew I would be overlooked by coaches for being too small or not strong enough in their eyes, or should I say your eyes. We focused on techniques and that would go on for countless hours everyday until perfect, then it would be applied to the field and the results were amazing, I was able to drive kids out of the hole and always manage to get the upper hand.
Due to these lessons he taught me, I have developed a view on my academic standards and football caliber. In the classroom I am just as focused as I am on the field, my goal is to maintain a 4.0 GPA while achieving a 1400 on the SAT and 34 on the ACT in high school. Although, in college I would still like to maintain a 4.0 GPA and try to be at the top of my college class as a graduate.
When I was around the age of say 8 or 9 years old I started competitively go kart racing. I know that sounds funny but it was a very serious sport. I had many obstacles from this sport which included cutting weight, weekly races along the East coast and Mid-West while even venturing to Las Vegas for an international race against the best in the world. I did manage to accumulate a national championship at the age of 12 and this was everything to me. It taught me how to compete at a level I didn't think possible and it taught me how to set my goals moving forward that goals I never thought possible were suddenly now in front of my face ready to be conquered. I then used these techniques in football and it elevated my game to the player I am today.
