Sophia Hays '23 Recruiting Profile

I started playing volleyball when I was eight years old, and immediately fell in love. I grew up  in a competitive family, and I wanted to try every sport I could. Before I was thirteen I had been on basketball, swimming, soccer, softball, and track teams, but from day one I've had a special passion for volleyball.  The very first time I stepped on the court I wanted to understand the game better, and become the best player I could. I've kept that mentality; every practice and game I give my best effort, and I never give up on the ball. I'm a versatile and athletic player, and I'm able to play any position in indoor.  My education is also incredibly important to me, I work hard to prioritize keeping all of my grades up and maintaining my current 4.32 GPA. In college, I'm hoping to study Environmental or Marine Sciences, which have always been my favorite subjects. My goals for the next level are to play at an academically challenging college with a lot of great new people and school spirit, and also to find an incredible volleyball program through which I can continue my athletic career and continue to improve my game.
