I am sure that my personal statement will differ in some aspects over the next three and a half years of high school. What will never change are the people that have influenced me in life and athletics. My parents, sisters, grandparents, aunts and uncles have all influenced me. My parents were always coaching my older sisters in youth sports. My dad was the varsity fastpitch coach, and my mom was a varsity high school basketball and volleyball coach. From the time I was born, my mom would put me on her front pack and we would go to practice. My dad would take me to the field and I would play for hours on this huge dirt mound. I can not remember a time that I was not around sports.
Both of my sisters had very successful athletic careers and are very supportive of me. My oldest sister played college fastptich and my middle sister is on a basketball scholarship at Western Washington University. Many times I would not be thrilled to go to all of their activities but I was always paying attention. They showed me hard work and perseverance will never fail you but most importantly, winning is fun and losing is not.
One of the characteristics that our family is very passionate about is volunteer work. I have participated in Walk-N-Knock, Little Dribbler Basketball Coach, Lions Club Thanksgiving Dinner Meals on Wheels, Toledo Food Bank Toy and Pajama Drive, and I will serve at the Napavine Senior Auction Scholarship Night. It would not be unlikely to find me picking up garbage, Gatorade, and water bottles after practices and games as well as putting away equipment.
In my free time I love to snow ski, water ski, of course we need a pretty powerful boat to pull me up! I learned this past summer how to put in, in-ground sprinklers so I can do that this summer when I am not at camps or tournaments. I am working very hard on getting my grades up. My first semester freshman year, I did not do as well as I should have. Currently I have three A's and three B's. My goal for high school is to graduate with a 3.5 GPA. It can be difficult to juggle school and be a three sport athlete but I am learning time management is very important. My coaches are all counting on me to be a leader with great grades. I know this will help me tremendously playing college football. I know I could be an asset for your team!
