Personal Statement

Hello! I'm Zach Roy, a senior on the Philip Barbour High School football team. I've started for 3 years, also getting some time in during my freshman year (including a playoff game against the number one team in the AA division). Throughout my 4 years of high school, I've also been a part of the wrestling and track teams. I am also apart of my high school's marching band.  All three of these extra curricular activities add onto my off-season training. Football has been my passion since I was around 5 years old.  I've been a center and have played every line position since I've naturally always been a bigger kid. Center has always been my home position, but I have bounced out to the guard and tackle positions in certain situations. On defense, I play on the D-Line (DT & DE). The past 3 years, I played middle linebacker and have moved down to the defensive line for my senior year due to team needs and my size getting bigger.

I push hard in the classroom and don't rely on my athletic ability to get me through. I know colleges don't want unintelligent athletes and I know that the better my grades are, the more options I have school wise. My G.P.A stays between a 3.5 to 4.0, and I've taken my ACT with a composite score of 22 (taking it again), and plan to also take the SAT. My goal is to become a Physical Therapist, graduating with a doctoral degree. I'll also be the first person in my family to graduate college which has been a driving factor in my life. I'm looking for a school that'll help me achieve my dream of playing college football and also help me with the first four or all eight years of my doctoral journey.

Whether it be in the classroom or on the field, I can promise that I will give one hundred percent and lead by example. I'm a firm believer in "Respect is earned, not given" and I have always lived up to that and will continue to do so!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
