As my journey through high school closes in on its conclusion, I become ever happier that I took the opportunities presented to me to participate in sports at the high school level. Football was one experience I would not want to trade for anything. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, the competition, and the people I had the honor to play beside.
During my five year experience of football, I discovered how much a person can improve if they put forth the effort, and put forth the effort I did. I took the sport seriously, and did everything I could to improve my abilities; I studied plays, watched film when I should have been doing work, and I hit the weightroom. My last year of football, the 2019 season, I tore my ACL and MCL at the beginning of the season, but I played through to the end of the season. People may say that was a stupid decision, but I was committed to my team, my second family, and to a sport that I put so much effort into being the best I could be at. I might not be the most intelligent person, or the fastest person, maybe not even the strongest, but I've got heart. Sometimes heart and a fighting spirit is all you need in order to come out on top of your opponent.
At the end of the day, I just hope that you might see something in me that others don't. I'm aware that dedication and a fighting spirit might not be anything too special when compared to anyone else in the league, but I will put forth my best effort, that is the one thing I can assure you of. I just want to play a sport that I owe so much to. Football made me the person who I am now, and I would like another chance to experience the thrill of the game, and the comradery of the team.
