I bring commitment, leadership, and teamwork to my football team both on and off the field. This is my 8th year playing contact football. I am a two time varsity football captain, a two time JV basketball captain and one time varsity basketball captain. I believe I can make a difference to my teammates, my team and myself through the effort I put in each and every day no matter if it is a workout, a practice or a game.
In youth football I developed my skills as a running back, linebacker, and strong safety but when I became a Freshman our JV team was in need of a quarterback; I stepped up to learn the position and lead my team to a 5-4 record. Playing football for the smallest school in our conference; I was called upon as a Sophomore to play with the varsity team as a starting defensive back and back up quarterback. During my Junior year my primary position was at quarterback; with 3-5 series per game at defensive back. I had 1188 passing yards with a completion percentage of 54.9% for 15 touchdowns and I was able to contribute 343 rushing yards for 3 touchdowns making me a duel threat. As a Senior I was asked to return to my defensive back position full time where I cover our opponents #1 receivers and minimize their passing game. I also share the quarterback position and through 6 games (taking 30% of snaps) I have 470 passing yards with a completion percentage of 50% for 3 touchdowns and 110 rushing yards with 1 touchdown.
I bring a high degree of athleticism to the skilled positions that I play on both offense and defense. With quick decision making and great lateral mobility on the defensive side of the ball it allows me to make tough plays. I've been told my awareness when the ball is in the air is outstanding which helps me cover other teams #1 wide receivers. My athleticism allows me to play Quarterback in an option based offense. I've been told that I'm a physical runner and play bigger than my size. I can throw from in the pocket as well as on the move and make quick decisions when I see open grass to pull the ball down and run. I have the ability to extend outside of the original play which is very beneficial in 3rd down situations when teams expect the pass. Also, I have practiced at Wide Receiver both outside and in the slot and am very comfortable going up for a jump ball as well as running crossing routes over the middle. I possess a toughness that I think is needed to play at the next level where players are both faster and stronger. Lastly, I possess big play ability whether it is in the run game or the passing game. There is always a chance that I will break a long run or throw a long pass that can change the momentum of a game.
My goal is to complete a Nursing degree; as well as, play competitive football. I would like to compete at a very high level while still being able to get a good education.
My goals in the off-season were to improve speed and strength so that I can help take our HS football program into the state playoffs for the first time in over 20 years; and with only 2 games to go in the regular season it looks like we will achieve that.
My hobbies include, basketball, golf, video games, and hanging out with friends. I am also looking to make a return to the baseball team my Senior year.
