Cade Wasilkoff's Personal Statement:
I credit my parents for instilling a great work ethic and giving me accountability for my academics and sports. My parents have been role models to me by working hard and pushing me to be my best in the classroom and on the field.
I became interested in football playing with my dad in the backyard at a very young age. Throwing the ball and running routes became a routine. I joined football and developed confidence as I grew and realized that I am capable of anything I set my sights on.
I have learned the value of hard work through the trials of sports. My mind has been tested, my body has been banged up at times, and I always keep my spirits up. I always motivate other teammates on the field despite the outcome. I am a leader by the way I carry myself on and off the field.
Academics have been important to myself and my family. I have been held accountable to always strive to work hard just like on the field or in the weight room. My goal is to make the honor roll in high school and college.
I have had to overcome an injury that I played with for a whole year. I was injured in the first game and ended up playing all year with that injury. It was challenging mentally at times. I know after experiencing that, I can do anything.
I learned that being a part of a team sometimes means putting my personal wants aside. I have learned to play a number of different positions on the field. I played some without even practicing because my team needed me in those roles because of my speed and strength. I believe I am capable of being a great asset to any team because of being adaptable and always team focused.
