Hi, my name is Zachary Lawrence. Known to my friends as Zack or Big Z. Right now, I am a young Junior at Sussex Hamilton High School and hold a 3.67 cumulative GPA. I turned 16 on July 6, 2017. Because I am good with numbers, I'm taking courses geared towards becoming an Accountant or Actuary. I've been involved in football since the first grade, playing flag football. As well as football, I also play basketball and have played since the 2nd grade. I have played VARSITY for Sussex Hamilton Chargers as a Center. Because I have always been big for my size, I have always been a starter on the 0-line or on defense playing football. This past year in 2017, I started each game, less 3 due to a sprained ankle, for Hamilton High as a 6'6", 265# Tackle for VARSITY. My mentor was a D-1 recruit who is attending NIU this year at the tackle position. Learning from the D-1 recruit at the Tackle position has been invaluable for me and has taught me so much in the such a short time I worked with him. I have learned playing on Varsity that it takes more than strength, it takes commitment, discipline, leadership, team work and a good work ethic . While playing Varsity I've also learned the importance of leading by example. I have a very good work ethic and hold the belief you get out of what you put into your efforts. I strive to be the best at all that I do. In December of 2016, I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America which is the highest rank a young man can earn in scouting. Only 4% of all boys in scouts earn the rank of Eagle. Because sports and scouts always seemed to collide, it was difficult at best to satisfy both. My perseverance and leadership experience that I have gained in becoming an Eagle scout and taking NYLT, which is National Youth Leadership Training will be a great asset in the future for both football and my professional life. I intend to remain with scouting, helping the younger scouts as an Assistant Junior Scout Master until I go to college. I find teaching the younger scouts fun and rewarding as well as working with the young kids that go to the football and basketball camps through my high school. My dream and goal is to play college football in a program that can both utilize my talent and provide an excellent education for my future.
