Hi, my name is Jack Johnson. I’ve been interested in and playing sports for as long as I can remember. My first ever word was ball. I started playing on an organized t-ball team when I was just three years old. During the early years of my childhood, while my Dad was deployed in the Navy, it was just me and my Mom. We would usually go to the local Atlantic league baseball team’s games most weekends, where my interest in being involved in professional sports sprouted. During that time, I played all the sports that were available to me for my age. That has continued to this day, as I currently play baseball, football, and basketball.
After my Dad retired in 2013, we moved to Wisconsin to help my grandpa get around because he had just lost his ability to drive. I was in second grade at the time, and finally at the age to start basketball on a youth club team. I’ve loved the sport ever since. Besides hooping whenever I have the chance, this year I have started to help coach our local Lil’ Hoopsters developmental program for PreK to 2nd graders.
My Grandma was diagnosed with and passed away from cancer this summer within three months. She was 69 years old. Her passing made me realize how short life is, and showed me how much I want to play sports at the next level. I’m a hard worker and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to move forward as a college athlete and beyond.
