Hello, my name is Zander Risner . I am currently a Junior, at the Little Snake River Valley High School, in Baggs, WY. When I first started playing football as a 6th Grader, I must be honest in saying that I was not good in school and felt very inferior amongst my peers; so the release of all my pent-up rage and frustration throughout the day made playing football that much better. Therefore, I really enjoyed being able to hit somebody and get away with it.
I soon found out that I not only liked the release of it all but I actually was good at it. As I grew up and became more knowledgeable in the sport of football, I realized I finally had something for once in my life and that was confidence. I started to excel in the sport and I became the ¨game plan¨ for the opposing team because of my defensive skills and blocking abilities. My aspirations for college football would be to earn a starting position on the team and my biggest goal would be to be an All-American.
Although I´m from a 1A school, I know what it means to be dedicated to my sport and above all, be dedicated to my team. I´ve been forced to learn from failures and my successes. I am telling you, I will never give up on a play. Iḿ devoted to the bitter end by hard work and the competitive drive to be better than anyone else.
Yet, at the end of the day football is a team sport and I wouldn´t be where I am today without the brotherhood that surrounds me. Whether it is the 6 men playing on the field with me, the players on the sidelines, my coaches, my family, and the roaring crowd; the fact that I have these people behind me gives me the courage to carry on. I believe that the best locker room behavior is, to be honest with my teammates on ways they can improve, and I expect that they would do the same when I need the extra push.
Although I have proven to have the athletic ability to continue on as a collegiate athlete; I do not feel that is what sets me apart from the rest. However, it is my passion to continue to grow as an athlete, teammate, student, and most of all; find my true self within the game of football.
