Personal Statement

My goal for collegiate basketball is to play in a wing/forward position where I can utilize my shooting ability to extend defenses and my 6'10" height to take advantage of size mismatches. In both high school and AAU, I typically play more outside the paint to take more advantage of my 3-point shooting, passing, and ball handling skills. I do post up as opportunities are available, and always try to get in the paint to rebound both offensively and defensively.

While I believe shooting is my biggest asset, I try to be active both ends of the floor, whether that is running the floor on fast breaks, cutting to the basket for back door opportunities, or rebounding. I appreciate a team environment where everyone works together, both on offense and defense. For me, that includes setting screens or making an extra pass for an open shot, blocking out for rebounds, and helping and communicating on defense.

I am looking for a school that will help me further develop my skillset as well as use my height and skills to their advantage. I am a good student (3.6 GPA) and quick learner. I plan to study accounting, business, sports management, or finance in college.

My love for basketball was instilled by my parents. My dad and grandfather both played D1 basketball, while my mom is from Kentucky and attended UK. Basketball has been a major part of my life, starting as a 4-year old playing with my dad on an old goal attached to our house. That love for the game has grown to the point that I want to be in the driveway or gym at every opportunity. My parents installed a permanent hoop and driveway big enough to have a college 3-point line. They also bought a shooting machine so I could get up 1000s of shots.

My parents have always been a huge part of my basketball life. They always support and push me to do the things that would make me better and to achieve my goal. I hope to find a school close enough for them to attend games as much as possible but am willing to travel if I find an opportunity that is the right fit.
