My name is Robert Burries, Jr., everyone calls me BJ for short; I am a senior at Globe High School. I have one brother and one sister. My goals are to graduate high school with honors and at the top of my class. Go play College Basketball at any level against the best competition, major in Sports Management or other Sports related discipline. I consider the opportunity to play basketball at the collegiate level a great privilege and responsibility that requires an even greater commitment. Playing college basketball requires dedication, sacrifice, and determination both on and off the court, in and out of the classroom. I believe that I have laid a solid foundation academically and athletically to prepare myself for the opportunity to be a student athlete at the college level. While others are enjoying a day off from practice, I am getting in extra conditioning and skill development. I am the one spending time in the gym or at the courts during the summer. Playing basketball in college is a goal I have aspired to since I was in Elementary School, and I have and will continue to put in the effort to meet my goals.
I am always looking for a challenge, whether it is academics or athletics. It is just the competitiveness inside of me that wants to always win. I started playing basketball when I was very young. I have also played other sports including: baseball, football, soccer and track. Sports have been a huge part of my life, and going to the next level doing what I love is something that I have always dreamed of since I was little. I am also involved in many other groups and activities throughout my school and community. I have volunteered my time as a youth basketball coach and t-ball coach. Not only do I do the best I can do in sports, but I do the same when it comes to my community involvement as well.
I started playing basketball when I was three years old. I love the sport and I have worked hard to improve on the talent that God has blessed me with. However, as my parents have taught me, talent is not enough. You have to work at it and I believe you have to respect the sport you play to become good at it. I do respect it and I have a good work ethic, but I want to get better. Taking my skills to the highest level over the next years is what motivates me. Playing the PG position has helped develop me into a leader on and off the court, and having full vision of the court. I am comfortable dribbling with either hand, I love shooting form outside, mid-range or driving into the paint. I feel that I am a very coachable player and I also strive to be a good teammate. I want to take all these things and use them toward not only reaching my goals but my dream to play basketball at the collegiate level. Playing club ball over the past years against stronger competition has also helped me grow and develop my skills.
I’d like to be part of your program moving forward. I’m interested in talking to you about your school and program Coach. Thank you for your time.
