Every student-athlete comes with a great responsibility. Indeed, that phrase speaks so highly about myself. My name is Jethro Ian Maerina, and playing the sport of basketball is a passion that I strive to pursue.
I am a 5’9” skilled guard (PG/SG), as I use my size very effectively thru my quick movements, playmaking style and shooting abilities. Over time, I think that I improve as a player and yet, I have much desire to develop even more.
Playing in high school and winning 2 State Championship titles at the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) 1A Division in the span of 3 years (2020-21 & 2022-23) is quite a big feat and experience that I proudly achieved for myself. Thru God’s grace, and with our coach’s motivation and confidence on me, I’ve been challenged a lot and have given a vital role in the team to play and compete - to prepare for a much higher and challenging levels.
Over the years, I have been training and playing with different elite basketball club teams here in Phoenix, AZ. I do love competing in numerous local leagues, regional/state tournaments, and out-of-state games to better hone my skills and experience.
I understand that education is a priority over sports. That is why I strive to maintain being part of the honors in my class. I do my best to make sure I get quality grades that can help me better achieve my goals for college. The importance of education is my driving force in order for me to enjoy the privilege of being involved in sports. And through this, I recognize the value of hard work and dedication as I exercise a good, positive attitude in life. I become a much more disciplined and responsible person, and above all, I am constantly praising God for giving me this such athletic ability.
