Personal Statement

My love for basketball is second to none. I don't care how many points I'm scoring or how "cool" I might look on the court because all that matters to me is doing whatever I can to win and enjoy the game I love.

Off the court I try to live with this same approach--I prioritize what is meaningful to me. That comes in the form of academic focus and community service outreach. My education is and always will be my first priority, which is why I've worked to challenge myself with AP classes and other rigorous courses.

My love for service isn't a result of required hours or a desire to appear charitable. Instead, I've done community work over the past few years with intentions to make the world a better place. Giving makes me happy and gives me purpose. This is my third year as a leader at my school within a service group, "ACL": Athletic Council on Leadership. As a member I've worked to provide sports-related goods to charities in my area while also finding ways to help teach other students at my school about future college opportunities both with and without sports.

Lastly, most important to me is my attitude towards life and the goals I pursue. I want to be a person who lifts others up and makes the world happier. Whether that means leading by example or maybe doing something for others while nobody is watching, I believe every small kind action has value. One of the most powerful things I've ever seen somebody do was a former teacher picking up random pieces of trash as he walked around our school quietly. It's selfless actions like that which I always want to make the choice to do regardless of whether or not I'm being seen.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
