Omar Abonasser '20 Recruiting Profile

Since I started playing basketball, I have always wanted to compete with older and bigger/faster kids. Now as a high school player, I have the same burning aspiration to play at the highest collegiate levels.

I began playing basketball when I was 6 years old and joined my first AAU travel team at the age of 8. Since mid-season of my first travel team, I have been a starter/leader in minutes for all my travel and high school teams. I lead by example and communicate with my teammates as much as I can during practices and games. For the last 4 seasons, I was humbled/honored to receive seasons’ MVP for 7^th & 9^th grades, Defensive Player for the Year for 8^th grade, and Coach’s Award as well as Scholar Athlete Award (4.0 GPA) for 10^th grade. Based on my Coaches’ feedbacks, I have great handle/control on the ball, tremendous court vision, and a knack for scoring. I am very coachable and eager to learn more. Furthermore, I strive to be the most indispensable player on the team.

Aside from basketball, I always work as hard in the classroom, have taken Advanced courses, and kept a high GPA. I am also a member of Lion’s Heart, where we proudly volunteer for community services. I learned from my parents to give my best in anything I do; whether it’s basketball, school, work, or life.

I want to be part of a College/University where I can better myself in basketball and classroom. I am open to any location with the right fit academically and athletically. As I have always done, I will represent the School and Program at the highest standard on and off the court.
