Niyi Olabode '21 Recruiting Profile

My main goal since I was young was always to play Division 1 basketball, and I've been very determined to make it a reality. I want to come to a new program in college where I can improve as a player and as a person, and work together and help my teammates every single day, on and off the court.  I'm a good candidate for any team as I am patient and I am driven. I’ve never been handed anything that I have in my life today, I was never the best player on any of my teams growing up but I used it as fuel. I worked hard at what I wanted and kept building up my skills. I worked hard for where I am today and I'm still going. What makes me stand out as a player is my defense, throughout high school I was the one who would always take the other team‘s best players and shut them down. I’ve always taken pride in my defense. I let my defense turn into offense. On the other side of things I go to one of the top academic high schools in my area, and  I get it done in and outside of the classroom.  I always make sure there's a balance between school and hoop, and I'm as determined to work on my game as much as I am to get good grades.
