My name is Anthony Basta. I am in the class of 2024. I currently go to United Christian Academy in Rancho Cucamonga. I am a 6’1 crafty guard that can pretty much do it all. Not having parents involved in sports, I just naturally grew up loving the game of basketball since as young as I can remember. Being the middle child always played a huge part in my growth of competitiveness, always having the older brother that would push me around, and having my little brother look up to me now as a role model and compete with me as I once did. Basketball has and will forever be my passion. There is no Anthony without basketball.
I am an all around scorer that can shoot the three ball consistently, have a solid mid range, great handles, am extremely shifty, and can finish anywhere at the rim. I also have great vision and basketball IQ and make great non-telegraphical passes. Although my weight can be a weakness, I use it to my advantage with my speed and quickness. I would say that ball handling, passing, and scoring are my strongest attributes. With that being said, I am super aggressive and disciplined in my defense because I am much lighter than my opponents. I give my full effort every single time I touch the court. I take passion in helping my teammates succeed and am very unselfish on and off the court. I put others before me and try to show humility in everything I do. At the end of the day, I just want to win. I love the grind and hard work and am willing to do all it takes to play at the elite level. Many people have told me playing D1 and making the league isn’t realistic, but I don’t let it discourage me. Instead, I use it as motivation, and continue to strengthen my determination to the sport.
I am dedicated in not only becoming a successful athlete, but a student as well. I currently have a 3.6 GPA which is considered low for me, knowing my history of achieving straight A’s for almost all my years of school. I have received multiple academic rewards and will achieve more. I plan to take honors and AP classes to be ahead in my class rank academically.
I value God in my journey to play college basketball and have faith that anything is possible as long as you put in the work and do all it takes to accomplish your goals. I will always bring positivity to any team or classroom I’m apart of and will never let my own pride and pleasure get in the way of my teams/teammates succession. I dream of playing professional basketball and becoming a role model for thousands of hoopers in my current position to look up to one day. I will do all it takes to win no matter what the cost is and cannot see myself doing anything else other than playing the sport I love. Regardless of all the obstacles and hardships I will go through to achieve my goal, I pray it all pays off one day in the future when I finally make it.
