Tommy Nowels '12 Recruiting Profile

Hi I'm Tommy Nowels, I am 17 years old and currently live in Los Angeles, CA. I am 6'1" and weigh 175 pounds. For the past 3 years, I have lived in London, England where I attended the American School in London (ASL). While there, I started on the Varsity basketball team my freshman and sophomore year and I was also the only sophomore selected to be on the European Championship All Tournament team. I was also the 3rd leading scorer on the team behind 2 players who, next year, will be playing basketball and track at the College of Wooster and Stanford. I have loved basketball and have played it since I was 3 years old. Over the years I have played in many leagues, under many coaches and with many players of all skill level. I have always been amongst the best of my friends, but basketball has always been more than just being better than other people; it has taught me life lessons such as teamwork, perseverance and hard work. I understand that no matter how good you are you always have to practice and work as hard as you can. I think that my strengths are shooting, defense and the ability to step up in tough situations, but I am working on every aspect of the game. Playing College Basketball has always been a dream of mine and I would love to play Division 1, but Div 2 and 3 would, without a doubt fulfill my dreams of playing basketball at the next level. Going into my Junior year, I realize how hard I need to work on and off the court to succeed at the next level and I will no doubt put in the work to be the best I can be. I am a passionate student-athlete and my learning style in the classroom parallels my learning style on the court; I have a need to understand thoroughly, and I believe this is an asset. -Tommy
