Joshua Caston '16 Recruiting Profile

I want to be the Floor General and impact player in a D1 college program and I am ready to take my game and your team to the next level. From my earliest childhood recollections, a basketball was always nearby and within my reach.  I was raised on a basketball court watching my father, a 2-Guard in the military, play future NBA standouts such as Allen Iverson, Chris Gatling and Joe Smith. I started playing organized basketball at 4 years old, at 10 I became a point guard and at 12, scouts began comparing my guard game to former NBA guard Mike Bibby. I have incredible, "un-pickable" handles and excellent footwork, the product of over a thousand miles that my dad and I have walked on the streets of LA as I dribbled my ball, listening to him impart all of his decades of basketball wisdom and sagely fatherly advice.  I am very athletic and an intelligent player, the quintessential thinking man's point guard.  I am able to think and act both strategically and tactically on the court.  D1 coaches evaluating my game have commented that "I make it (PG) look easy". I am very coachable and hard working.  I have excellent court vision, I am an excellent shooter that loves to snipe 3-pointers, and I am a clutch player and scorer.  One of the newest weapons I have added to my basketball arsenal is rebounding and I am starting to get into triple-double territory on the stat sheets. During my 2-year tenure at Mater Dei HS (Santa Ana) we won the 2013 & 2014 California State Championship (Open Div) and the 2014 National Championship.  My Mater Dei experience has made me tough as nails along with instilling a superior work ethic and top-notch defensive skills set.  I know sacrifice, what it takes to win and how to win. Having to play with and against my former MD teammate,  6'7" Stanley Johnson (Detroit Pistons), on a daily basis also helped to elevate my game to the next level. I have been placed in positions of leadership on and off the court and I continue to exceed and excel. I firmly believe what my dad always tells me, "If you love the game, the game will love you back". I LOVE THE GAME...
