Basketball has been the sport I have loved my entire life. Although I am sad that my high school career is coming to an end, I am excited to see what my future as a college athlete will bring.
Looking into the future, my goals are very simple; Win games, be an invaluable teammate, learn and grow to be a better player, and continue my success in the academic field.
I believe that my abilities on and off the court make me a great fit for many teams. I have the capability to mentally absorb and physically apply coaching instruction, and tailoring it to make sure that I am producing results.
My capabilities at running point, while successful, do not stop my versatility or willingness to be and added value in any remaining position. I execute both offensive and defensive roles on the court; I am loud on the defensive end and know how to control a game offensively.
When I am playing, match ups are always clearly understood. I can shoot, drive, pull up, post up, and lock down a player when needed. It is these traits that show the ability I have to adapt as a player, which I feel differentiates me from my peers.
I welcome a challenge, I am a leader on and off the court, I am happily coachable, a great teammate, and I do not like to lose.
The skills I have learned in the game, have translated into my academic life. I have maintained a close to 4.0 GPA while juggling basketball. The reason I can do this is because of the dedication basketball has taught me.
I study, I complete every task that’s passed my way, and when there is something I feel I am not excelling at, I am not too proud to ask my class coach (teacher) for help in order to absorb their knowledge and apply it.
Having a heavy schedule and managing it while maintain a great social life is a skill that I feel is rare at my age. It is because of basketball that I have been so successful in doing it thus far, and it is with basketball that I will continue to do it in the future.
Thank you for your consideration,
