Hi coaches! My name is Gabriel Swift but I go by Gabe.
My college goal is to graduate college with a degree in journalism and broadcasting to pursue my passion of working in the sports world. Its also a dream of mine to play basketball at the collegiate level. So that is what I work towards everyday.
My long time love of sports, my drive to succeed and my love of the game make me believe I can achieve the goals set for myself.
I am a hard-working guard, who won't ever complain and I am 100% coach-able. Along with setting up the offense as a Guard, I really enjoy playing defense. I'm a scrappy defender who dives on the floor for loose balls and hustles for rebounds. On the offensive end I am a good shooter from three point range and mid range. I can handle the ball at a high level and under pressure and I am always willing to make the extra pass. Contact in the paint doesn't frighten me. Foul me and watch me hit my free throws. I'm an unselfish player who believes all 5 players on the court serve a significant role in winning each game.
My Freshman year basketball season in High School I was awarded the JV MVP Award. I worked hard to reach my goal in making Varsity Sophomore Year and became a starter. My coach awarded me the Coach's Award for my perfomance during the season. During my Junior year, I was named 2nd Team All Conference and was awarded the DMA Seahawk Award. This award represents Honor, Character, Sportsmanship, Leadership and Citizenship on and off the court. It's the prestigious Award you can win at my High School. I was also awarded the Coach's Award for the 2nd year in a row on Varsity. And was named 2nd Team All Conference in my junior year by the DIAA. My senior year I led my team in scoring, assists and steals and brought our team to the 2nd round of the playoffs. It's the first time in school history that our team made it to the 2nd round of playoffs. I made all Team First Conference, I was selected for the Blue Gold All Stars game, made Top 15 players in Northern DE chosen by the DIBCA and made All State Honorable Mention. Overall I had a pretty great season that I'm very proud of and look forward to preparing in the off season so that I have a great Freshman season in college.
I have a variety of videos in my profile for you to view.
