Steve "Trace" Mears '22 Recruiting Profile

I am fast approaching the end of my Senior season.  It has been a good one for myself and my teammates at Altha High School.  We are 19-6 and ranked #7 presently with two games to go until District playoffs .  To date I have scored over 1300 points in my varsity career.  My coach decided to challenge us this year by scheduling several much larger schools and 3 of our 6 losses came from 4A and 5A schools.  Four of our wins came against 2A and 5A schools.  We also played in a Christmas tournament and won 2 of 3 games and I was selected to the All-Tournament team.  I believe I could be a great fit for any team because I have a great foundation and knowledge of the game.  My stepfather played college basketball and is currently a high school coach and my grandfather was a high school basketball coach where he coached for 26 years, won a State Championship and was runner up twice. I will do anything a coach tells me and will give my everything at all times.  I am a team player and work well under pressure.   I had my best games against our best opponents.   I want to learn and get better every day.  My Dad was killed in a plane crash on May 3, 2022 and it is more important than ever that I fulfill his dream and mine of being a college athlete.  My parents have always attended every game and made it a priority to teach me to be a good team mate and set a good example for those around me.   I love the game and work at it every single day!
