Basketball has always been a major motor in my life; it's what keeps the flame in me going. Ever since I was 8 yrs. old I wanted to follow into my parent's footsteps into becoming a professional athlete (basketball). This personal statement of my life is not for show and tell but for you to see what makes me recruitable and a great asset to any team.
My name is Alejandro Castellanos Jr. I am a 6'6 postgraduate Senior in the Class of 2019 at DME Sports Academy in Daytona Beach Florida. Academically I've been on the honor roll and B+ Average student with a 3.46 GPA. Throughout my high school years, I've noticed maturity, responsibilities, knowledge, physical and skill growth. After my 4 years of being both a student and an athlete was just a taste of the life of an athlete. Taking this postgraduate year to me was eye-opening because I learned what being a full-time athlete is like; From 6 am conditioning on the field to getting in the weight room and then to shooting 1000's of shots. I love the challenge and can't wait for the many obstacles to face because facing under countless pressure is what'll prepare me for my future.
I've played my Freshman, JV and 1 year of Varsity at All Hallows' High School which is located in Bronx, NY. A year of Varsity at North Rockland Highschool which is located in Rockland County, NY. as well as a Postgraduate year at DME Sports Academy in Daytona Beach Florida. I've always been a double-double player my 5 years and been playing the Forwards position my whole career. My breakout season was my postgraduate season at DME where I had countless hours in the gym working on my craft all day and night nothing but basketball so I took advantage of this. I went from a 12 and 10 player to a 20+ppg player with 13+rpg; patience is a virtue and I'm glad I use it well.
My main goal is to win and trust the team's process; trusting my teammates and coaches whether I disagree or agree it's the next step to team chemistry. Any school that I go to I'm willing to adapt, learn and produce with whatever is needed. Whether it's hustling from one end of the court to the other, whether it's doing the scrappy work or if it's being a scorer or best rebounder out there I'm willing to give it all I got for everyone on that hardwood.
I'm interested in majoring in business/entrepreneurship or real estate and international business. My goal is to take in what any university provides for me to follow my academic goal and playing basketball at a highly competitive level. I would love the opportunity to show any school my desire to excel at both. Many student-athletes say "I love basketball" with me it's different I love French Fries I have a whole different feeling towards basketball that's unimaginable and unexplainable. That's the difference between love and passion for something.
