Personal Statement

My Name is William Young IV. I am a Senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. I grew up in Michigan (Southfield & Waterford) and in the summer prior to my Junior year, I transferred from Waterford Mott High School to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida because of my Dad's Job Relocation.

I am interested in pursuing a collegiate student athletic career at a competitive academic school with a thriving Pre-Law Program, with focus in  Economics and Business.   But my passion is to play basketball at the collegiate level.   I believe the right college will allow for my active participation in both areas, and prepare me for my future career goal of becoming a sports attorney.

I am a diligent student, with an academic strength in writing, (but I struggle with Math). Personally I am a "live-hard" basketball fan. As an athlete I would describe myself as a well rounded player. I am a true forward (3), but because of team injuries, I have been selected for a role as a 4 / 5. I work hard in the Post, have great speed vs. bigger opponents, but my strength is as a transition player. Thus far this season, I have averaged 13.5 pts per game over 9 games / 7 rebounds per game with a total of 15 blocks over the 9 games. I am often under estimated as 6'3" , 175 pound man in the paint, but have learned to use my wingspan, agility & speed as an advantage to produce. I believe "how you practice, is how you play" and I am not afraid to put in the work in every team practice and individually.

I am looking for a Student Athletic Experience in college that will allow me to be the best athlete I can be, and contribute to a winning program as I pursue an undergraduate degree as a pre-law or buisness major.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
