Xavier "Ziggy" Gilbert, III '20 Recruiting Profile

Hi, My name is Xavier "Ziggy" Gilbert, I am a Senior at Victory Rock Prep School in Bradenton, FL.  I am a student-athlete and have been for the last 12+ years.  I have played basketball since I was 2.5 years old and worked out with my dad.  My dad was a High School All-American, ranked Top 100 in the nation years ago.  He has been my coach, my trainer, mentor, the person I look up to, and just my sidekick, my dad!  My mom and I are really close too, my whole family is really close.  

I have played school ball since 6th grade, league ball since 3rd grade and AAU ball since 4th grade, I have always played up with AAU.  As a 7th and 8th grader I play(ed) up 9th grade and at times, 16U.  My position on the court?  "Put me in, Coach, just tell me which position you want me to play, I can play all 5 positions."  

I have created, built and established a strong work ethic and found that "dawg" in me in the classroom and on the court!  Overall, I have done well in school and am looking forward to my four years of High School.  

Something about me is that I incorporate Christ in all that I do.  He is the Head of our household, and of my life.  I get my strength from my faith, wisdom from my parents and with that will come to a successful path for my life as I grow.  My name carries weight, it means "Brilliant Savior," my parents installed strong family values in me and I intend to carry them with me for the rest of my life. 

I am creative in that I customize and paint shoes, I enjoy writing, reading and fitness.  I would like to play with a University who values their players, both on and off the court.  I am looking for a strong curriculum in Computer Science and a solid team with a coach who cares about his players and overall program.
