"Opportunity Maker"...this is what many people refer to me as. One of my biggest strengths is my basketball IQ. I don't just play the game, I study the game. I am continually training, watching video clips and looking for ways to do things better next time. Because of this, I am known as a leader on the court. I can see potential opportunities and create opportunities for myself and for others. While some may just be looking at the play as it is run, I am looking at the entire floor to see my opponent's weaknesses and my teammates' strengths to take advantage of to create an opportunity to score or stop the opponent from scoring. I am a dedicated student of the game and a dedicated student in the classroom.
People see me as a team unifier because of the positive energy I bring to the court and the locker room. When we as a team get down, I see it as my opportunity to lift my team up and change the momentum of the game with a play or a defensive move. One thing I never do is give up. I have a growth mindset and always looking for a way to make it to the next level of competition. When I was in the seventh grade, I had foot surgery. Since I couldn't use my feet, I spent the entire summer getting stronger, by lifting weights with my arms and my upper legs. I looked for ways to improve my core. When I broke my right arm, I spent 8 weeks learning to shoot better with my left hand and dribble with my left hand. I may have always been one of the tallest guys on the court, but I trained almost every day to improve my ball handling skills to be one of the most versatile players on the court. I could help bring the ball down, run a motion offense, create a pass for a shot, hit a 3-pointer and turn around and post-up if there was a mis-match. I see every obstacle as a chance to improve and get stronger.
Academics is a high priority for me. As much as I am dedicated to basketball, I am also dedicated to my academics. I keep a high GPA and keep a good relationship with my teachers. I want to major in Biology and eventually get my Doctorate's degree to be a medical doctor.
